Making tracks (January '09)
Dogs running free
Three year old holding my hand
We wander the wood lot
Between home and the pond
Paths worn in the snow
Migrations from one feeding spot to another
Turkey, Deer, Rabbit and a myriad of dog prints
Young eyes marvel as he follows every track
Tiring before he gets to the end
Then it strikes him
We make tracks too!
Oh the delight at the sight of his own path
Leading from house to pond
Our journey ends at a frozen patch
Impromptu ice skating
Dogs slip sliding
Little boy on his backside
Pastel skies in the west
A bright star ushering in the night
The exploration has come to an end
A warm fire and cocoa await
But wait!
One more slip slide
One last snow angel
Before we make tracks back home
